This Genuine NZ Greenstone Toki Necklace with Two Cutout Koru is a beautiful piece of pounamu carving.
The approximately 7cm (2 3/4') long toki (adze) has two beautifully carved out Koru. As these are handcarved, the size as well as the placement of the koru may vary a little.
The Toki (adze) was an important Maori implement, used to chip and shave wood and stone, and sometimes used as a weapon. In bone or greenstone, the hei toki was traditionally worn by Maori elders, as it represented power, wisdom and authority.
The Koru design also carries a spiritual meaning. The Koru represents the unfurling new fern shoot, and signifies peace, tranquility, new beginnings, and positive change.
With all the positive spiritual meanings, this is a lovely piece to give to a friend or loved one.
Proudly carved in New Zealand from New Zealand greenstone (pounamu).
